Writing Center support is provided by highly trained Writing Consultants. Consultants provide crucial writing and research assistance, working individually with OSU community writers (primarily students) to revise and improve their writing. Frequently, Writing Consultants work with students on a recurring basis, offering ongoing consultations. We like to think working as a Writing Consultant is one of the best jobs on campus.

For students interested in working at the Writing Center, read on:

  • Within their role, Writing Consultants work with OSU community writers (primarily undergraduate students) in the Undergrad Research & Writing Studio and through our Online Writing Support to advance their writing projects and writing goals. Part of the consultant's employment experience is participation in initial training and ongoing professional development designed to increase their ability to effectively support student writers.

The Writing Center encourages applications from multilingual and multidialectal students, international students, members of historically underrepresented racial/ethnic groups, women, transfer students, individuals with disabilities, veterans, and LGBTQ+ community members.  We look for students who have a passion for supporting student writing development, hold a curiosity about others' ideas and perspectives, and are committed to supporting students with diverse backgrounds and strengths.
