About the Graduate Writing Center
Since opening its doors in 2012, the OSU Graduate Writing Center has served graduate students, assisting with theses and dissertations, seminar papers, manuscripts, IRB material, funding and research proposals, as well as conference and defense presentations. We provide one-on-one writing center sessions with fellow graduate students.
What the Graduate Writing Center can do for you
We offer a supportive, low-stakes environment to discuss and practice graduate-level writing. Our highly trained Graduate Writing Consultants (who are themselves either past or present grad students) can help you to navigate and decode the complex expectations of graduate writing. Typical sessions include brainstorming, argument development, organization, clarity of expression, and citation/documentation. While Graduate Writing Consultants may not be experts in your discipline, they are trained to identify communication and content expectations so that you may meet your writing goals.
Graduate Writing Consultants frequently work one-on-one with graduate students on their theses or dissertations, offering ongoing support through recurring appointments. We understand that writing a thesis or dissertation is a journey, and we are here to help you on that journey.

Graduate Student Appointment Policy
It is Writing Center policy to schedule graduate student appointments with trained Graduate Writing Consultants only. While graduate students may work in the Undergrad Writing Studio, Studio consultants are not trained to work with the expectations of graduate-level writing. Graduate students must make an appointment in the Graduate Writing Center to receive graduate-level writing support. If you have any questions, please contact Chris Nelson, the Graduate Writing Center Coordinator.
You may also make appointments in person in 102 Waldo Hall, or by telephone at (541) 737-5640.
