About the Graduate Writing Center
Since opening its doors in 2012, the OSU Graduate Writing Center has served hundreds of graduate students, assisting with job applications, IRB materials, proposals, seminar papers, conference presentations, and – last, but not least – theses and dissertations. We provide one-on-one writing center sessions with fellow graduate students.
What the Graduate Writing Center can do for you
We offer a supportive, low-stakes environment to discuss and practice graduate-level writing. Our highly trained graduate writing assistants (who are themselves either past or present grad students) can help you to navigate and decode the complex expectations of graduate writing. Although we are not content experts, we can help with writing issues including brainstorming, argument development, organization, clarity of expression, and citation/documentation.
Our graduate writing assistants frequently work one-on-one with graduate students on their theses or dissertations, offering ongoing support through recurring appointments. We understand that writing a thesis or dissertation is a journey, and we are here to help you on that journey.
Scheduling an appointment

Graduate Student Appointment-Only Policy
It has always been Writing Center policy to schedule graduate student appointments with graduate writing assistants only. Since the Undergrad Writing Studio is staffed by undergraduate as well as graduate studio consultants, we cannot accept graduate students in the Undergrad Writing Studio. Thank you for your understanding. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Chris Nelson.
