The Writing Center services are provided by highly trained Writing and Research Consultants. Consultants provide crucial writing and research assistance, working individually with student writers to revise and improve their writing. Frequently, Writing Consultants work with students on a recurring basis, offering ongoing consultations. We like to think working as a Writing Consultant is one of the best jobs on campus.

The Writing Center hires students to fill part-time (a maximum of 20 hours per week) Writing Consultant positions. We anticipate the next recruitment cycle may be in Summer 2021 to begin work in Fall 2021.

Within their role, Writing Consultants work with undergraduate students in the Undergrad Research & Writing Studio and the Online Writing Suite to develop their writing expertise. Part of their employment experience is participation in initial training and ongoing professional development designed to increase their ability to effectively support student writers.
The Writing Center encourages applications from students of all majors and class standing (year). In particular we hope to receive applications from multilingual students, Students of Color, transfer students, and students with disabilities. We look for students who have a passion for supporting student writing development, hold a curiosity about others' ideas and perspectives, and are committed to supporting students from diverse backgrounds and strengths.
