Written Feedback

Submit your writing online for a written response from a writing consultant. Written feedback is an email that arrives in your student inbox on or prior to the day you selected when scheduling. The submission form lets you share your draft as well as any areas you’d like the consultant to focus on in their response. Written feedback is available for all enrolled students, faculty, staff, and alumni up to one year following graduation.

What to expect from written feedback

Each written feedback response is composed by a writing consultant and includes specific praise, observation, a reader response, and facilitative questions. Consultants tend to ask a lot of open-ended questions in order to help you consider potential revision areas and next steps in your writing process.

Get the most out of your experience

Consultants tailor their responses to your specific writing, goals, and questions. Plan to submit your writing as early as possible and provide the consultant with as much information as you can when filling out the submission form. This includes details about the assignment prompt, as well as your top concerns and questions. The more information you share about the assignment and the type of feedback you need, the more your consultant will be able to offer a helpful response.

Receive a confirmation email

Each time you receive written feedback, you will automatically receive a confirmation email within 24 hours of our email response. This confirmation email can be shared with your instructor, either by forwarding the email, taking a screenshot, or downloading it as a PDF.  If you don’t see the confirmation email within 24 hours of receiving your feedback, try checking the junk or spam folder.

Become a regular

Many writers request written feedback multiple times throughout the term. You can request written feedback for different projects or different drafts of the same project. If you are working on multiple drafts of the same project, please limit yourself to one response at a time and be sure to submit a fresh revision for each round of feedback. You can also visit the Studio in person or schedule a Zoom appointment for additional support.
